provide new found freedom, convenience and control for diabetic patients.
The pump is about the size of a pager and can easily be concealed
in a pocket or under clothing. The pump delivers a basal amount of
insulin, continuously throughout the day, and can be programmed to
administer a bolus dose on demand. All settings are based on individual
need and can be changed as necessary.
The MiniMed Insulin Pump is available through Horizon Healthcare
Services. A prescription from your physician is required and Horizon
will work with your insurance company and notify you of your coverage
and out of pocket responsibilities prior to ordering your supplies.
The pump and supplies will be delivered directly to your home. Supplies
are usually ordered for three months at a time, with follow-up contact
made to the patient from a Patient Account Representative approximately
two weeks prior to another delivery. The patient does have the option
of calling at any time to request additional supply deliveries as
needed.
