KANGAROO® 324 FEEDING PUMP
Normal Operation
- Plug the pump into AC wall outlet.
|
Battery Operation
- Unplugging the pump from the AC line outlet will automatically
put the pump on battery power.
- To recharge battery, plug the pump into an outlet. Pump
will automatically begin charging.

These general instruction are for inserting all
Sherwood-Davis & Geck Pump Administration Sets into the Kangaroo
324 Feeding Pump.
1. Fill feeding bag prior to setting up pump.
2. Close roller clamp on pump set.
3. Press "ON".
4. Wait while pump performs systems check.
5. Check "VOL CLR" light or press "VOL"
to ensure that volume delivered is cleared, if desired.
6. When display reads 0, set rate by pressing increase button
" "
or decrease button " ".
7. Set dose, if desired, by pressing "DOSE" button,
then press " "
or " "
to set desired dose. (NOTE: Setting the
dose is not required to operate pump).
8. Insert drip chamber into drip chamber guides.
9. Open roller clamp, fill entire line with fluid, close roller
clamp.
10. Attach distal connector to feeding tube.
11. Grasp the silicone portion of tubing and gently stretch
around the pump's rotor.
Insert the pump set retainer disc into retainer lock on the
pump. Thread the set's tubing through tubing guide on the pump.
12. Open roller clamp, press "START/HOLD". While pump
is running, dots will flash across display. |
To Change Rate:
1. Press "START/HOLD".
2. Set new rate by pressing the " "
or " "
keys on the front panel.
3. Press "START/HOLD".

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Listed below are some of the probable causes
of alarm conditions and their corrections.
Symptom: Flow Error Alarm (FLO Err)
Probable Cause: Feeding Container
is empty
Correction: Refill feeding container.
If bag has been in use for 24 hours, replace.
Probable Cause: Feeding tube or feeding
set tubing is occluded.
Correction: Locate point of occlusion
and correct. Note: occlusion may occur upstream or downstream
from pump. Check to make sure roller clamp on feeding set tubing
is open. Check the patency of feeding tube.
Probable Cause: Drip chamber is improperly
placed in pump.
Correction: Check to make sure drip
chamber is properly "locked" in position in drip chamber
guide.
Probable Cause: Drip chamber walls
are coated with feeding formula.
Correction: Check to make sure formula
is not preventing detectors from proper operation. If formula
cannot be removed from inside walls of chamber via chamber manipulation,
replace set.
Probable Cause: Sensors in upper
drip chamber guide are blocked.
Correction: Check to make sure detectors
are free of dried formula. Remove any deposits by using a cotton
swab dampened with warm soapy water.
Symptom: Low Battery Alarm (Lo bAt)
Probable Cause: Battery has
been run down below point of maintaining accuracy of pump.
Correction: Plug pump power cord into
wall outlet.
Symptom: Hold Error Alarm (HLd Err)
Probable Cause: Pump has been
left in the hold mode for over 21/2 minutes.
Correction: Press "START/HOLD"
to silence alarm, then press "START/HOLD" again to restart
pump.
Symptom: No Set Alarm (no SEt)
Probable Cause: Pump set has
been improperly placed onto pump.
Correction: Check to make sure only
Kangaroo Pump Set has been placed onto the pump. Check to make
sure that the retainer clip on pump set has been properly positioned
into retainer lock on pump.
Symptom: System Error Alarm (SYS Err)
Probable Cause: Rotor is not turning
while pump is running.
Correction: Return pump for technical
service.
Probable Cause: Rotor is turning
but is not detected by rotor sensors.
Correction: Return pump for technical
service.
Symptom: Dose Delivery Alarm (dOSE dEL)
Probable Cause: Preset dose
has been delivered to patient.
Correction: Repeat the dose amount by
clearing the volume delivered;
OR cancel the dose feature by pressing "DOSE" and "CLR";
OR to feed additional volume, increase the dose amount by pressing
"DOSE", then " "
until desired dose is displayed;
OR turn the pump off.
Symptom: No Audible Alarm
Probable Cause: Alarm volume set
too low.
Correction: Turn alarm volume knob
on pump to desired setting.
Probable Cause: Battery is fully
discharged.
Correction: Charge battery for a minimum
of 15 hours.
Probable Cause: Alarm Circuitry failure.
Correction: Return pump for technical
service.
